Takayna / tarkine wilderness
Takayna is located on Tasmania’s wild and remote north-west coast, where waves from the Southern Ocean charge ashore, at the aptly named the Edge of the World—propelled by winds unimpeded by any land mass between South America and Tasmania. In fact, the cleanest air in the world, as measured by the nearby Kennaook/Cape Grim facility, blows across Takayna’s expansive dune fields and into the forests.
Home to the largest expanse of cool-temperate rainforest in Australia, and second largest in the world. It’s a mossy, magical place; an enchanted forest, alive with unique creatures and habitats not found anywhere else—one of Earth’s last great wild places.
We trek deep in the heart of Takayna’s rainforests to place our beehives for extended periods, allowing our bees to collect nectar from the blossoms of a diverse range of rainforest plants. It is this pristine environment that imbues our honey with its unique flavour and purity.
PLANET PARTNER
With surging climate and biodiversity crises, protecting Takayna’s rainforests, wild coastline, tall eucalyptus forests, rivers, creeks and wildlife, is more urgent than ever before.
At Beeliever, we are dedicated to donating 1% of annual revenues to not-for-profit environmental organisations as part of our commitment to 1% for the Planet.
We believe it is our environmental responsibility to reduce our negative impact on the environment and to offer our support to organisations who are having a positive impact on the planet.
We are proud to support the Bob Brown Foundation campaign to have takayna / Tarkine protected as a World Heritage listed National Park. See more about the campaign here.
